The sessions don't cost anything. Meet just before 7pm Wednesdays at the front entrance to the sports centre.

Swim Training

A Masters swimming class takes place throughout the year on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Total Fitness in Lancaster. Discounted rates are available for non-members of the health club. These sessions will help with your swimming technique and see you getting the most out of your swimming training.

If you can't make it along to Total Fitness Mark Smith from Carnforth Otters is offering a weekly training session focussing mainly on technique at Salt Ayre on Wednesday evenings open to COLT members for £2.00 per session.

He will be using the "tank" at the top of the main pool initially and if numbers grow he will make a lane available in the main pool.

Timing : 8.30 pm - 9.30 pm

If you are really keen you can go to the COLT run training followed by the pool session!

Open Water Swimming

Throughout the summer months ( May - September ) the club holds open water swimming sessions at the Lakeland Leisure Village near Carnforth. This a great venue, the water is regularly tested for its quality, and there is always a safety canoe present. Wetsuits are compulsory ( you won't be allowed to swim without one ) as it can be pretty cold, you also need to wear a bright coloured swimming cap as well so you can spotted by the safety crews. You must be either a member of COLT or TriPreston to qualify for the reduced rate of £3.

These sessions take place every other Monday night at 7:00pm. It costs £3 for club members and £5 for non club members

Dates for 2010 are as follows:
14th and 28th June
12th and 26th July
9th and 23rd August
6th September
20th September inc end of season pizza/pasta party

All swimmers must sign a registration / consent form and hand it in before swimming. It can be downloaded here : COLT Open Water Swimming Consent Form

They are a great way to practice and improve your open water swimming technique in a safe and friendly environment. Come along and give it a try.

Cycling Training

We have cycling training sessions to suit riders of all abilities.

All rides start and finish at Total Fitness in Lancaster:

Saturday 7:00am : A Fast paced ride of 4 hours and above.

Sunday 9:00am : Two groups, moderate and easy ( suitable for beginners ) riding for 2-3 hours.

Rides are free so come along and improve your riding skills, build up your fitness, explore the countryside and enjoy the social banter. Come along one Sunday morning and you'll never want to have a lie in again.

COLT want to encourage all members to join in one or more of the regular cycle rides. Without wanting to set out a whole series of rules and regulations we would appreciate people taking the time to read the following guidelines and bearing them in mind for their own and others safety.......

  • COLT encourage their members to become members of Triathlon England as this gives them many benefits including liability insurance.
  • Anybody who rides on the training rides does so at their own risk.
  • Every effort will be made by the leaders to ensure a safe ride & their advice & guidelines are their to help you , however this does not make them liable for anything that happens on the road & individuals are responsible for their own safety.
  • Please bring a puncture repair kit, mobile, money or some emergency plan to get home in the event of a problem.
  • Please ride in a group of similar ability.
  • Please obey the highway code & be courteous to other road users (if there's any shouting & swearing at motorists to do ,leave it to me).
  • When riding in close groups please stay off your tri bars.
  • Do not coast, speed up or stop suddenly when riding as a group especially when at the front.
  • All bikes to be in a roadworthy condition
  • Helmets must always be worn ,no helmet,no ride with COLT.
  • Any type of bike is allowed on training rides (roadworthy) however we are a Triathlon club & the majority of us use road bikes (top tip they're lighter & faster) if you ride a mountain bike ,hybrid or penny-farthing you put yourself at a slight disadvantage & may struggle to keep up with the group .
  • We are a Triathlon club & the rides try to cater for differing abilities but they are intended to make you sweat & get out of breath .

Please note that cycle helmets are compulsory, as always safety comes first.
